“If you don’t love what you do, you won’t do it with much conviction or passion.”
—Mia Hamm
I spent years chasing desires to be happy but when I got what I wanted; I still remain unsatisfied. I have realized that you don't find your passion, you build it. It is a discovery process.
One of the most common stumbling blocks to launching a passion-based life is figuring out what you're passionate about in the first place. For me it is serving others, wellness and travel. It took me leaving corporate and some soul searching to come to understand what I'm really passionate about. I'm still in the discovery phase of how to incorporate this into a career. For now, I'm working with clients with similar passions and mentoring small businesses that are needing to pivot during COVID.
“There is no passion to be found playing small—in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” —Nelson Mandela
If you have not found your passion yet, here are three possible reasons:
1. You’ve not found your passion yet because you’re too afraid or too distracted to explore.
2. You know what you want to do but you’re too afraid to pursue it.
3. You are not taking the time to remember what passions have been with you all along
Think back on your life, and remember things you wanted to be, the habits you developed naturally, the games you played, the books you read, and see how they may apply to your life and career today. You might be surprised by the connection points that have been right under your nose all along.
One key thing that I have learned is that passion can't be found in our head because it lives in your heart... take the time to remember and use your heart to explore your passions.
